A comparison rate includes both the interest rate and most fees and charges associated with the loan, expressed as a single percentage. It is required by Australian law (National Consumer Credit Protection Regulations 2010, Regulation 100) to help borrowers compare the true cost of loans from different lenders. The comparison rate may be higher than the interest rate if the loan has establishment fees or other charges. Harmoney rates range from 5.76% to 24.03% p.a. (5.76% to 24.98% p.a. comparison rate*). For example, a loan at 5.76% p.a. with a $0 establishment fee has a comparison rate of 5.76% p.a. — the rates are the same because there are no fees to add. A loan at a higher interest rate with an establishment fee of $575 will have a comparison rate above the interest rate. Comparison rates are calculated on a standard $30,000 loan over 5 years. Different loan amounts, terms, or fees may result in a different comparison rate.
