Describe Harmoney in three words.

Move fast, win

Tell us a bit about yourself and your journey.

I started my career in Auckland after graduating with a Software Engineering degree from the University of Auckland, then moved to Singapore to immerse myself in the startup culture and get hands-on with tech and development. After returning to New Zealand and working in corporates, I reached a point where I was looking for something new — both in environment and role — and stumbled across a Platform Lead role at Harmoney that offered exactly that.

Why did you decide to join?

I was at a point in my career where I was looking for something new—after experiencing the chaotic pace of startups and the slow, political nature of large corporations. Harmoney, as a scale-up, felt like the perfect in-between, and the Platform Lead role offered the added challenge of people leadership, which I was eager to grow into.

What’s your role and what does a typical day look like?

I’ve just stepped into the Head of Engineering role, which is a great blend of technical leadership, people management, and aligning engineering with business strategy. Day to day, I spend my time supporting our teams, removing roadblocks, shaping technical direction, and making sure we're delivering the right outcomes for the business and our customers.

What’s it like working at Harmoney?

Fast-paced and impactful — and you can see the difference your work makes. There’s a strong sense of autonomy, where ideas and opinions are welcomed regardless of seniority, and the culture is deeply collaborative with a genuine focus on continuous learning and growth.

What’s been your proudest moment so far?

Without question, it has been being part of the original team that built the core application powering our new platform. Helping to scale it for launch — and seeing the entire business come together to make it happen — was a huge and rewarding team effort.

How has Harmoney supported your growth and development?

Mentorship at Harmoney has been amazing — we’re lucky to have strong technical and people leaders who genuinely support your growth. There’s always something challenging to work through, and the autonomy I’ve been given has let me grow in the direction I wanted — from stepping into an architecture role to sharpen my technical design skills, to now leading as Head of Engineering to build my leadership capability.

Tell us something fun or interesting about yourself outside of work.

Before having my three boys, I was an avid traveller and managed to explore most of Asia and Europe. I’m also a huge sci-fi nerd — there’s nothing better than getting lost in a great sci-fi book.
