Brian M. Barefoot has served on Lending Club’s Board of Advisors since 2011. Headquartered in San Francisco, CA, Lending Club is the largest P2P platform in the US and has originated over $3b of loan volume in the last 12 months.

Mr. Barefoot is President Emeritus of Babson College where he served as President from 2001 until 2008 and served as Chair of the Board of Trustees from 1996 to 2001. Every year since 2000, The Financial Times Global MBA Rankings has ranked the Babson MBA program in the top five entrepreneurship programs. Babson's undergraduate entrepreneurship program has been ranked #1 for the past 17 years by U.S. News & World Report and Money just rated Babson as the number 1 college in the US among 667 colleges and universities based on a number of criteria including highest return on investment.

Prior to this, Mr. Barefoot’s career in financial services has spanned more than three decades. At PaineWebber, Inc. he served as Executive Vice President and Director of Investment Banking, a member of its Board of Directors, and President and Chief Executive Officer of its subsidiary, PaineWebber International. During twenty-five years at Merrill Lynch & Co., he held various senior management positions, retiring as Senior Vice President and Managing Director. He also was Chairman, President and CEO of NeoVision Hypersystems and Founder and CEO of Frontier Sports Development Corp. He currently is a Senior Advisor to Carl Marks (NY) Advisory Group, Director and Chair of the Finance and Business Operations Committee of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Director and Chair of the Audit Committee of Cynosure, Inc., a Director of BigBellySolar, Array Health Solutions, Vice Chair of Indian River (FL) Medical Center, a Trustee of Little Harbor Advisors (MA) Multi-Strategy Fund and a Trustee of both Saint Edwards School (FL) and Burr & Burton Academy (VT). He is also a member of Town Council and Mayor of Indian River Shores, Florida.
